2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2021 Chevrolet Suburban performance parts debut

The redesigned 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and its brother, the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, have only recently begun to roll into dealer showrooms, but Chevrolet Performance has already begun to stir new enticements for buyers in the form of special parts upgrades. Turned up by GM Authority, these are LPO (Limited Production Options) installed by the dealer.

Starting in the engine room, there is an available Air Intake Upgrade System. The revised intake can be fitted to the standard 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine or the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 which is exclusive to the Tahoe and Suburban High Country trims. The inlet is fitted with a clear plastic cover and a bright red filter element. More importantly, it is said to deliver a 13 percent reduction in intake pressure on the 5.3-liter engine and a 17 percent reduction for the larger 6.2-liter. The Air Intake Upgrade System costs $ 625.

On the other side of the combustion process, we have a new cat-back exhaust system. There are two variants: a side outlet unit with a single outlet or a unit with dual outlet openings at the rear. Both the side exit unit with single exit and the dual exit version with rear exit are available for the 5.3 liter V8. For the 6.2-liter engine, the dual rear exhaust is your only choice. Both systems would reduce the back pressure by 30 percent. The 5.3-liter engine gains 7 horsepower and 4 lb-ft of torque with the side-exit unit, while the rear-flared exhaust adds 4 horsepower and boosts torque by 2 lb-ft. For the 6.2-liter, the Chevrolet Performance exhaust provides an increase of 11 horsepower and 6 lb-ft of torque. The single exit system costs $ 1,645, while the dual-exit unit is $ 2,145.

To add more whoa instead of more, Chevrolet Performance is also introducing a brake upgrade package. Offered in partnership with Brembo, the six-piston calipers are painted bright red and feature Chevrolet Performance and Brembo badges. Likewise, rear units are also available that both squeeze larger Duralife rotors. The front brake upgrade costs $ 2,895 with the rear brake $ 575.

The performance part upgrades allow buyers of the new Tahoe and Suburban to fool their SUVs while keeping them all at the factory. For GM, they are softening margins on what are already two very profitable vehicles.
