DETROIT – The Detroit auto show, which is trying to reinvent itself after decades as a location in January, has pledged seven years with the new date in June.

The Detroit Auto Dealers Association has signed an agreement with the Cobo Center in Detroit to hold the North American International Auto Show in June through 2026, according to DADA officials Friday.

In July, the dealer group announced the switch to June, following the decisions of car manufacturers, including BMW and Mercedes-Benz, to skip the 2019 show.

Together with the date in June, a compressed schedule will appear in the days prior to the opening of the show to the public. Instead of two media days and two days reserved for suppliers and other professionals from the industry, there will now be three example days, DADA officials told the Automotive Press Association.

In 2020, the primary media day is Tuesday 9 June. The next day will be a split media / industry day and Thursday 11 June will be the exclusive day of the industry.
