New KTM X-Bow GT-XR is your latest legal street toy

The ultimate street version of the KTM X-Bow has been officially unveiled in the form of the GT-XR.

The X-Bow GT-XR has been teased and spied a few times in recent weeks and is very similar to the GTX and GT2 race cars the Austrian company builds. It will cost owners a cool €284,900 (~$282,000) and only 100 units are expected to be produced per year.

The X-Bow GT-XR is supported by a carbon fiber monocoque and high-strength tubular steel frame that contribute to the car’s 1,130kg dry weight. While KTM could have apologized for equipping the car with an engine that doesn’t make more than 300 horsepower, it has instead opted for an Audi-derived 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder that’s good for 500 horsepower at 6,350. rpm and 581 Nm of torque at 5,550 rpm. Coupled with this engine is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends its power to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential.

These figures propelled the car to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds and to a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).

While maximizing track performance was clearly a priority for KTM in developing the X-Bow GT-XR, it says it’s “perfect as a daily driver” thanks to its large 96-liter fuel tank, electrically assisted progressive power steering, and the option of a 3.5-inch (9 cm) hydraulic lift system.

Downforce figures are known. However, KTM notes that in addition to the obvious downforce generating components such as the massive rear wing, rear diffuser and front splitter, the X-Bow GT-XR also has a floor section designed to maximize ground effect thanks to vortices created generated by the front splitter and routed around the floor, creates an air seal under the car.

Braking is made possible by lightweight eight-piston fixed monoblock calipers with steel rotors. Customers looking for ultimate performance can opt for ceramic brakes. The car’s suspension comes from Sachs and wheels with central locking are an optional extra.

Inside the cabin of the X-Bow GT-XR is a removable carbon fiber steering wheel that houses the digital instrument panel, an adjustable pedal box, an optional rear-view camera system, a Bluetooth audio system, LED lighting, air conditioning, and even a small glove box.
