As a pickup truck, the 2022 Ford Maverick will no doubt receive a variety of accessories from all sorts of different aftermarket companies. One of the big ones will certainly be the bed caps to provide more covered cargo space. In the spy photos above, we get our first glimpse of what the Maverick might look like with one. And this could even be a cap that Ford creates to sell directly to owners.
There are a number of reasons why we think this could be an official Ford truck cap. First, the truck has factory plates and is clearly not on dealer lots yet. The rear window on the hood is marked with marking numbers, and the side windows have Ford oval decals. In addition, the cap is nicely matched and the design is very close to the design of the Maverick. The top of the window line matches the black trim along the edge of the bed perfectly, and there are curves and chamfers to match the overall truck.
It has a great fit and nice details, although some aspects look a bit funny. We’re not quite sure why it sits a little higher than the actual roof of the Maverick. Sure it adds some upward space, but would it be that hard to fit things under the roofline? The small spoiler on the back is also a bit odd. But overall, it’s not terrible, and will likely be a popular purchase for new Maverick owners.
