Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator now have Gorilla Glass upgrades

Posted on

As rumored last month, and previewed during the Easter Jeep Safari, Jeep has made Gorilla Glass windshields available for the Wrangler and Gladiator. This is an extension of Jeep and Mopar’s Gorilla Glass offering that started with the JK Wrangler windshield, which is still available today. This also means that the two recent Jeeps are joining other cars such as the Ford F-150 and Ford GT in the use of glass technology.

The glass resembles what is used in many modern smartphones, and it appears that on top of the inner layer of Gorilla Glass there is an outer layer that is 52% thicker than a normal Wrangler/Gladiator windshield. In short, it should be much more resistant to damage. That should be pretty appealing given Jeep’s off-road focus.

In addition to the high strength, the official windshields are just as functional as the normal ones. They have all the little Jeep Easter Egg design cues and are compatible with the front-facing camera and accompanying heater, as fitted.

Prices range from $793 to $932, depending on what features you need for your model. Those prices are for the parts, so installation may cost a little extra. The windscreens come with a two-year warranty and unlimited mileage. JK Wrangler windshields are slightly cheaper at $645.
