This week in racing game news:

TikTok user Tyler Atkin gains popularity by swapping parts of his Miata for Wii accessories

The internet never ceases to amaze you, doesn’t it? Earlier this week, VG247 introduced to the greater world a story that has been bubbling in the depths of TikTok for about a month now. User Tyler Atkin, who goes by @ttptng on the platform, is slowly swapping parts of his Mazda Miata with Nintendo Wii accessories, popularly calling the project the “Wiiata.” It all started when Tyler removed his wheel and replaced it with the iconic Mario Kart Wii wheel. Then he went one step further and replaced his gear lever with the Wii nunchuck.

Of course, after the initial success of these first few videos, Tyler was inundated with requests and ideas from commentators about what he could modify next. He soon replaced his floor mats with official Wii Fit exercise mats, swapped out his e-brake lever for the Wii baseball bat mount, and eventually even removed his radio and replaced it with the Nintendo Wii console itself. And don’t worry, he even added the Wiimote wristband to his key ring for “safety.” It’s clearly an outrageous project, and Tyler himself admits in a video that the wheel is “absolutely terrible to use”, but we’re fascinated by the endeavor nonetheless (Editor’s Note: We strongly recommend NOT to use your wheel replaced by a Wii wheel, it’s not nearly as strong as the metal used in real steering wheels, though, and if it broke, you’d be without a steering wheel). Let us know what you would add to the Mazda Wiiata in the comments below.

Just when you thought “Rocket League” was running out of companies to partner with, they decided to announce that players can purchase a Nike Air Zoom Mercurial bundle in stores for 1,100 credits from now until July 26. The bundle will include a new Nike Air Zoom Mercurial car decal in pink, green and yellow variants, as well as a set of Nike Air Zoom Mercurial wheels. The design is pretty good, featuring a Flyknit texture with the iconic Nike swoop on the hood. If you don’t have any credit to spend, but still want a nice piece of Nike loot, you can pick up the Nike Air Zoom Mercurial Player Banner for free from the item store until the end of the promotion.
