Porsche announced its new PCM 6.0 infotainment system last year, but today the company has a few updates on this software to share with us.
The major update is coming for Taycan owners, who will experience a revamped charging scheduler. New in this update is that the scheduler now gives priority to charging stations with a higher energy output. Porsche specifically says it will try to bring you to chargers offering speeds of 150 kW and above to take advantage of the Taycan’s super-fast charging capabilities. In addition, Porsche has taken into account the time it takes to start and end the charging process until your arrival time, so that you get a more accurate time predicted by the navigation system. And finally, a new view mode lets you zoom in and out of your immediate environment to examine charging stations and also determine whether they are available for use or already in use. A filter in this mode allows you to sort the charging stations by charging speed, so you can also see the fast ones.
In addition, there are other updates that will be applied to the Taycan, 911, Cayenne, and Panamera. The interface itself gets a good dose of color to make it easier to distinguish the icons from each other. In addition, Porsche says it has improved its voice assistant for better performance and greater use for various vehicle functions.
The latest update has to do with Spotify and its new integration into the infotainment system. You can log into your Spotify account in the vehicle itself, meaning you can stream directly from the car instead of using your phone via Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Porsche says all of these updates will be made to newly produced models, starting sometime in the coming weeks. However, it does not provide details on when already produced cars will receive the features. Porsche has said in the past that its PCM 6.0 infotainment will receive over-the-air updates to keep the software current, so it should be a matter of time before existing cars with PCM 6.0 receive the upgrades.
