Off-road-oriented trucks are the hot trend right now, and car manufacturers are moving beyond special off-road models and selling parts to upgrade existing trucks and SUVs. Ford has marketed multiple products for the Ranger pickup, and now Nissan is trying to match them. And it all starts with a new range of parts for the Nissan Frontier.
These parts will make their debut on a 2020 Nissan Frontier competing in the Rebelle Rally – a race for women focused on off-road driving and navigational ability – and will be available later this year. Most striking about these parts is the steel off-road bumper. It weighs 106 pounds and features mounting points and holes for lights, shackles and a winch. A set of lights developed with Rigid Industries is mounted on that bumper. The first available bulbs are these round 6-inch LED units, but other sizes, shapes and lighting patterns will come later. All lights come with a switch, harness and covers. The visual upgrades are rounded off with the 17-inch Nismo off-road wheels.
For functionality, there are the special Bilstein off-road shocks that Nismo has to offer. They are tailored for off-road operations and are loaded with off-road and overlanding equipment. They can handle extra wheel movement and support a 2-inch lift in combination with different springs. The rear shocks even have external reservoirs.
Prices for these parts have not been announced, but should be announced when the parts go on sale later this year. They fit every Nissan Frontier from 2005 to now.
Even if you have another four-wheel drive Nissan and you feel left out, don’t worry, parts will arrive for you too. Nissan will release similar accessories for the Nissan Titans from 2016 to 2021, the Nissan Xterras from 2005 to 2015 and the next generation Nissan Frontier.
