‘American Auto’ is a new sitcom about the automotive industry coming soon

Every time there’s a new car show, our ears perk up. This time it’s a sitcom called ‘American Auto’. It airs on NBC and the network just released the show’s first promo clip which you can watch above.

NBC’s description of the show can be found directly below.

“The Payne Motors corporate executives are in Detroit and at a crossroads: adapting to the changing times or being sent to the junkyard. The new CEO is shaking things up, whose leadership, experience and knowledge are only slightly offset by her complete lack of knowledge about cars. Fortunately, her team has some of the brightest minds in the business – when they’re not fighting or trying to outsmart each other. From the headquarters to the factory floor, the Payne Motors crew is smiling home.”

Sounds interesting? At the very least, we’re intrigued to see where they take this show. The short clip shows a scene in a boardroom where executives are figuring out which vehicles to sell in the future. Long-time ‘SNL’ star Ana Gasteyer is Payne’s CEO and runs the show. We get to see the Ponderosa, supposedly Payne’s big idea for a future autonomous vehicle. It’s a sedan with a combustion engine in the front with a pair of big, showy wheels on all four corners. Will that bring production? Who knows!
