You may remember the 1,000 hp Yenko Camaro from 2018 that you could order from a local Chevrolet dealer. Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) is back for 2020 with another 1,000 hp Yenko Camaro. Price of entry? Only $ 69,000. It is basically the same as previously from a mechanical point of view, but it is built on the recently updated 2020 Camaro model year. If you've missed the story about those changes, you can catch up here.
The wild people at SVE take the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 from the SS and increase the displacement to 6.8 liters. Forged internals, an upgraded fuel system and a powerful charger are the headliner items that make this thing tick. Stainless steel headers and high-flow cats help evacuate all the extra exhaust gases that this piston pushes out. Then a custom melody helps to bring everything together to bring the power to that magical 1,000 hp.
However, SVE does more than just the engine in this build. Unique five-spoke 20-inch wheels are packed by Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. That is not the most sticky rubber there is, but it will probably usually suffice for 1,000 horsepower. You get a body-colored carbon fiber hood, specific spoiler, insignia and stripes to a sufficient extent to distinguish it from any other Camaro that is there. The interior gets a special badge with the build number on it. Then you get Yenko embroidered headrests, floor mats and Yenko entry guards.
The kicker in all this is that it can be ordered through a Chevy dealer. SVE guarantees everything the car does for 3 years or 36,000 miles, so you are guaranteed to get everything together for a few years for free. A sad note for all Californians who are interested in the car, it does not meet the strict emission test of the state. Everyone, enjoy your Camaro burn-out machine with 1,000 hp.
By "everyone else" we mean 50 cool owners, because SVE builds only 50 of them in this specific configuration. Get them while they last, people.
