2020 Porsche Taycan modifications coming from Hennessey

Texas-based tuner Hennessey Performance has announced that it will focus on the 2020 Porsche Taycan electric sports sedan. This will be the first electric car for which the company will offer adjustments. But unlike the many cars with internal combustion that Hennessey is working on, there will not immediately be power upgrades.

Instead, Hennessey noted that it would first be developing more cosmetic upgrades, focusing on wheels, interiors, and body modifications. The views show that changes are subtle, but consistent with the Porsche design. There is a small ventilation opening at the front of the hood like on the Porsche GT models. The front splitter is slightly deeper with an extension in the wheel arch and the side aprons look a bit deeper.

The fact that Hennessey starts with visual adjustments does not mean that the company will not look at performance upgrades, including more power. However, we don't know for sure how that will work, because it's not like you can just squeeze in more air and fuel to get more power. And other tuners have prevented them from messing around with the powertrain. When Saleen made his modified Tesla Model S FourSixteeen, he skipped engine and battery changes in favor of a new gear set for faster acceleration. Saleen has also upgraded the brakes and suspension, which should be considerations for Hennessey with the Taycan.

As far as Teslas is concerned, we are a little surprised that Hennessey did not focus his attention on one of the powerful Model S or Model 3 variants. It is especially curious, given that Hennessey is working on so many American cars, which would make Tesla a perfect fit. And with the cars that are already for sale and a fairly large owner base, it could be a strong market for upgrades. Perhaps Hennessey will turn to Tesla in the near future.

In the meantime we are curious what Hennessey has in store for the Porsche. The company said it has a Taycan ordered so that it can start working on parts. It should appear as soon as the American deliveries begin.
