2020 BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, 3 Series wagon get M parts

Posted on

Just like with the BMW X3 M and X4 M, the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, X1 and 3 Series wagon from 2020 get an accessory from the M-performance division. They are still mainly visual mods, but they add a little extra aggression to each model.

We will first focus on the cars we get in the US, the 8-series Gran Coupe and X1. Few external parts are available for the stretched 8 series; only carbon fiber fender openings, mirror covers, a grille and unique 20-inch wheels. The wheels are quite different with a bronze and black color scheme. Performance is somewhat improved with new drilled and ventilated disc brakes, the fronts of which are clamped by four-piston calipers. Inside, a special steering wheel with 12-hour marker, carbon-fiber upholstery and Alcantara is available, together with carbon-fiber shift paddles and a set of floor mats. Adjustable LED water lamps are also available. The X1 basically gets the same parts but adds side stickers, lowers the brake upgrade and the 20-inch wheels are painted black.

This brings us to the BMW 3-series car, which unfortunately will not come to America. But for those who can get one, BMW has a wide variety of parts, starting with a fully expanded set with bumpers, side aprons, a rear spoiler and a rear diffuser. Stickers are available, as well as a unique grid that lights up when the doors of the car are opened. Lightweight 18-inch wheels are available along with larger brakes. The interior components are basically the same as on the 8-series and X1, with an M-steering wheel and carbon shift paddles. Because the 3-series car can be used with a manual gearbox, M offers a unique shift button and an Alcantara shifter boat. And of course there are the adjustable water lamps.

People who are interested in the parts should be able to get them as soon as each vehicle is on sale. The 8 series will be launched in September, while the X1 is now for sale.
