You can have your Ford Mustang completely rebuilt in real carbon fiber

Posted on

The Ford Mustang has slowly and subtly evolved from an everyday pony car into a true powerhouse with higher trim levels developing more than 750 hp (559 kW). Despite this, it has never quite received the same reverence as other high-end sports cars. Now a company has decided to rectify that situation by offering a service where it replaces the stock housing with real carbon fiber.

That company is Arizona-based Asira Designs and it specializes in high-end customization to an extent we’ve never seen on the original pony car. What you see here is no front clip of carbon fiber pieces and a wrap on the back half. It’s all real carbon fiber and the Asira Mustang saves over £200 on the original car because of the swap.

If a buyer just wants to swap the body, it will cost them $43,000, but that includes a paint job and exposed carbon fiber accents. Those who want a bare carbon fiber finish will have to spend another $15,000. That’s a lot, but it includes a centerline V-twill weave that’s tuned from the outside in. It is also finished with a custom color tint and clear coat for protection.

The company also offers an extensive performance upgrade menu. Buyers can add a supercharger kit that supports up to 850 horsepower, a one-piece carbon fiber driveshaft and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Cup 2 tires. Brembo brakes and a complete menu of suspension upgrades are also available.

Weenies with weight can get their kicks by adding racing wheels, a rear seat removal kit, racing seats and a custom exhaust. All in all, that combo pulls over 100 pounds more out of the already lighter-than-stock car.

The interior is also not left without attention. Asira can equip your Mustang with a visible carbon fiber interior package, including trim throughout the interior. It will also add quilted leather upholstery, a 10.2-inch infotainment system and a custom carbon fiber steering wheel with leather inserts if a customer requests it.

Add all of these tweaks and adjustments together and we’re talking about six figures in adjustments over and above the cost of the donor Mustang. Compare that to just about any other 850 horsepower supercar and all the custom work done here and it actually sounds like a deal.
