Evasive Motorsports bringing modified Toyota Supra to SEMA

Posted on

The annual SEMA show opens its doors in November and this year's edition promises to be a Supra fest because it is being held first since the model made its long-awaited comeback. California-based Evasive Motorsports has unveiled photos of a "Fast & Furious" style bodykit designed for the coupe.

Developed together with DuSpeed, the kit makes the Supra lower, wider and meaner. It adds a hefty speed bump-eating splitter to the front bumper, side aprons and a huge wing to the rear. Smaller exterior mirrors and BBS alloy wheels complete the look. You may like it, or you hate it, but one thing is certain: it is not for those looking for a low profile.

We do not yet know what is under the long hood of the Supra, or that the changes take place in the cabin, but rest assured Evasive is well aware of the potential of the model. Fully in stock, the car comes with a BMW-sourced, 3.0-liter straight-six twin-turbo engine up to 335 hp and 365 pounds of torque. It takes 4.1 seconds to reach 60 km / h from a stop. Chief engineer Tetsuya Tada confirmed to Autoblog that faster variants are coming.

Evasive Motorsports is not the first company to dress the 2020 Supra in a bodykit. Toyota & # 39; s TRD division unveiled some of the aftermarket components it developed for the coup in May 2019, and announced plans to sell them to Japanese enthusiasts looking for a visual upgrade. The full set costs almost $ 24,000 when it is converted from yen to dollars, a dazzling sum that can also buy an almost new Volkswagen GTI. There is no word about whether that kit will come to America.

The prices for the Evasive kit have not been announced, but we expect to hear more about it in the weeks prior to the SEMA show. It is reasonable to assume that many other modified variants of the Supra, ranging from mild to wild, will bask under the bright lights in Las Vegas. European Auto Group (EAG) makes a Supra with 425 hp and a stick with six gears.
