Toyota Hilux Invincible 50 special edition marks half-century of tough pickups

The Hilux has established itself for the past 50 years as one of the best light trucks ever made and as a serious off-road tool. For such a popular vehicle, Toyota could not let an anniversary pass without causing a test, so it went with Arctic Trucks for a special edition package, the Hilux Invincible 50. Twenty-four century duty, only 50 units will be built.

Arctic Trucks, an Icelandic adventure company specializing in off-roading, did the hard work in this partnership. From the ground up, the tweaked Hilux starts on satin black 16×7.5 ET05 wheels packed in 265 / 75R16 Goodrich K02 ground tires for every terrain. Toyota also added a performance suspension, adjusted by Arctic Trucks and Bilstein. Together these mods raise the truck with 40 mm at the front and 20 mm at the rear.

Toyota also made several visual tweaks. The fenders at the front and back are flared and the back gets a sports bar with double ring. Four Vision X lighting at the top of the rear bar for the real adventurous look. The Invincible 50 also has mudguards from Arctic Trucks, a Line-X bedliner and rear parking sensors. Perhaps our favorite feature is the gigantic TOYOTA logo on the tailgate.

The rest of the changes are typical special editions. The cab is marked by a numbered Invincible 50 plate, while chrome badges are found on the doors, tailgate, rear cage and lighting. Black is the only available paint color.

All Invincible 50s start as a double cabin Hilux Invincible with a 2.4-liter turbo diesel and a six-speed automatic transmission. Although the price has yet to be determined, orders are opened on November 1, with deliveries starting in December and entering the new year.
