Nissan brings Destination Frontier Concept to Overland Expo West

Posted on

The annual Overland Expo West conference arrives in Flagstaff, Arizona this weekend, and Nissan decided to bring a fully decked, one-off concept based on the Frontier. Every year, off-road and outdoor enthusiasts pop up in Fort Tuthill County Park to celebrate the adventure on smaller roads. This naturally includes camping and the need for a competent vehicle.

So what's a better way to show that Nissan is outdated but still fully capable of Frontier, which is equipped with outdoor equipment?

It is called the Nissan Destination Frontier and it begins its life as a 2019 Crew Cab SV 4×4 Midnight Edition. Engineers then modified it with a Nisstec 3-inch lift kit for Nitto Trail Grappler off-road tires wrapped around American Racing AX201 wheels; improved skidplates, rock sliders and a new front bumper compliments from Hefty Fabworks; a WARN Industries Zeon 10-S winch for when things get really difficult; and a WARN winch roller guide and epic winch hook.

But mods don't stop there. The destination limit is also misled with a Leitner Designs rack, a CVT Mt. Shasta folding roof tent, an integrated Dometic combination fridge and freezer, a Rhino Rack Pioneer Tray and Baja Designs LP6 Pro lamps for extra visibility.

Otherwise, mechanically, the Destination Limit remains unchanged under the hood, which still serves 261 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque from its 4.0-liter DOHC V6, and offers maximum traction of up to 6,720 pounds when properly equipped.

"This special Destination Frontier is designed to do two things: firstly to demonstrate the sustainability, quality and reliability of Frontier, even when traveling to remote destinations. And secondly, to democratize the cross-country experience through a more affordable approach to the sport, "said Tiago Castro in the official statement, Nissan North America & # 39; s director for light commercial vehicles.

The destination limit is not directly available at the Nissan plant, but it shows what you can do about it if you choose to do everything on a Landing-based vehicle, all for less than $ 40,000.
