2023 Ram ProMaster detailed with a bunch of updates

Posted on

The 2023 Ram ProMaster is here and it has some great upgrades over the outgoing model.

Starting on the design front, Ram gave the ProMaster a new (thought out) front end. The headlamps are now positioned outside the collision zone in a direct frontal impact to save them in the event of an accident. In addition, the bumper has an integrated step that makes it much easier to get on and clean the windscreen or change wiper blades. The headlights themselves have also been improved. Standard halogen lamps provide 15% more light range and optional LED headlamps provide 50% more range.

The popularity of black-look packs has now also made its way into the van world, as this ProMaster is available with just that – blackout grille, badges and wheels. Finally, Ram introduced two new colors: Ceramic Gray and Spitfire Orange. Ram says these colors were specifically designed with the #vanlife customers in mind. Unfortunately, no images of these colors were available at the time of publishing this story.

A new extra high roof option is available for 2023, 10 inches more than the previous high roof option. In addition, Ram offers a new roller door in case that would suit the customer’s lifestyle better than a traditional back door. It is made of anodized aluminum for easier use.

A total of 19 configurations are available for the 2023 ProMaster, including three roof heights, three wheelbases and four vehicle lengths. Each of them will be equipped with the Pentastar V6 (just like before) that puts out 276 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. All vans are also front-wheel drive only. Not to mention, Ram still plans to release its electric ProMaster in 2023 — Amazon will take delivery of thousands of those electric vans next year.

Interior and technical upgrades abound for the 2023 ProMaster. For example, the ProMaster uses the latest Uconnect 5 infotainment system. The default screen is a 7-inch screen, but you can tack on an optional 10-inch screen. That means it has wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. You can specify a wireless phone charger and the interior features both USB-A and USB-C ports.

Safety and convenience features are readily available. Standard safety equipment includes collision warning, crosswind assist, drowsiness detection and road sign recognition. You can apply nice extras, such as an automatic parking function, adaptive cruise control, lane assistant, lane centering, automatic high beam, front parking sensors, cornering lights and rain sensor wipers.

An excellent feature available on every trim of the ProMaster is a new mirror for a digital rear view camera. Put it in digital mode and you have a completely unobstructed view to the rear. Many vehicles today offer this kind of mirror, but it’s great to see it in a vehicle with such poor visibility.

Ram says the updated ProMaster will be available to purchase in Q3 2022, but no price has been given for any of the models.
